LION'S BACK, Moab, Utah

Do we need to say more???

For those of you who are not so familiar with 4-wheeling: the Lion's Back is an infamous obstacle located just east of Moab. The start of the climb is on private property, so you need to pay a fee. It is a narrow, very tall slickrock fin. Over the years many people have attempted to drive up this challenge, turn around on the top and come back down. There have been some accidents, though. All these accidents were human error. The last one was a kid climbing up when some others tried to go down - he got a wrong tire placement and rolled the truck which made him drop into the crack between Lion's Back and the adjacent rock formation. All passengers survived but were severely injured.

The challenge is more psychological than technical, with a vertical drop on both sides and a long and steep incline.
